Geodesist/Oceanographer to Danish Hydrographic Office The Danish Geodata Agency is looking for a geodesist, oceanographer or similar in the Danish Hydrographic Office. The Hydrographic Office is responsible of the Danish and Greenlandic water, and is at an stage in the development where we need a colleague with interest and knowledge about geodesy and/or oceanography that has significant meaning for the geospatial data and products for the Danish and Greenlandic waters.

It is essential that you have good energy and are solution-oriented. Your daily tasks will be focused on finding solutions to complex challenges in the hydrographic domain. It is important that you have the ability to cooperate on interdisciplinary and complex tasks, but also to dive deep in the relevant parts of the field.

You will be part of the Hydro function in the Danish Hydrographic Office ,which is responsible for hydrographic surveying and charting in Denmark and Greenland.

About you We are looking for a new colleague, that has relevant education at masters level as an oceanography, geodesy, hydrography, geophysisics, engineering or similar. We imagine that you have a solid technical foundation with knowledge and experience within, for example, geodesy or oceanography and data sceince, and the ability to communicate your results both in writing and orally in Danish and English.

It is an advantage, if you have experience with geodetic or oceanographic data and can program in Python. The most important thing is that you are interested and curious about the field, and wish to ocntribute with geodetic and/or oceanographic knowledge to the domain of hydrography.

The job The Hydrographic Office wishes that our new colleague can contribute and focus on the following areas, that have relevance for the geodetic infrastructure:

  • Geodetic reference systems and transformations
  • Analysis and processing of tide data
  • Tidal models and changes in vertical datums
  • Seamless integration of land and depth data
  • Development of oceanographic products for future nautical charts and products

Salary and working conditions

The terms of employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the relevant union organization, though with the opportunity for pay supplements. Your place of employment will be the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities and its ministerial institutions. The workplace is Lindholm Brygge 31, 9400 Nørresundby. The working hours are 37 hours per week.

We expect you to master both oral and written English at a high level.

It is a condition of employment that you can be security cleared and that you can maintain your clearance during employment.
